In his capacity as a United States Probation Officer, Mike served as a line officer, the District’s Special
Offender Specialist, Supervisor of the District’s Presentence Investigation Division and for six years prior

  

to his retirement in December 2000, as the Deputy Chief. Mike has
extensive experience in the application
of federal sentencing guidelines
and the supervision of offenders. Mike has also served as an advisory
witness for attorneys on issues related to the investigation and supervision
of federal and state offenders.

Mike is a graduate of Metropolitan State College and received a Master of Arts
degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Mike has served as an Adjunct Faculty Lecturer and Assistant Professor for the
Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at Metropolitan State College of
Denver, where he teaches Community-Based Corrections. He has also served
as an Honorarium Instructor for the Graduate School of Public Affairs, University
of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

 

Mike frequently consults with criminal defense attorneys on matters involving pretrial detention, plea negotiations and
sentencing. Mike has conducted numerous pretrial and presentence investigations and has testified in both state and
federal courts. Mike is well respected for his knowledge and understanding of federal sentencing guidelines and is often
requested to assist in the drafting of plea agreements and to provide testimony concerning departure issues and other
mitigating factors.
